Whether paying rapt attention to the match or posing for the camera, RCA hound in the ground Rosie was an excited spectator at Meadow Park when RCA played a friendly match with Sunderland West End. Seen here with her mistress and regular RCA supporter Jacquie Brown, Rosie is one of three dogs in RCA midfielder Andrew Brown’s family. If she hadn’t been on a lead, she would have been on the pitch as the home team’s 12th man.

More photos from the match here.

We might be looking at a trend here...

RCA season ticket holders Simon Mears and Dave Rochfort flank Dave's dog Cooper, an 18 month old shih tzu. She's a very appropriate dog to support RCA because 'shih tzu' is Mandarin for 'lion' and the breed is characterised as alert, lively, courageous and clever.

Cooper is partial to a bit of our famous corned beef pie. And who can blame her?

Sunderland RCA FC have been drawn at home against Handsworth Parramore FC in the 1st round proper of the FA Vase.

The match will take place on 1 November 2014.

Handsworth and Parramore FC was formed after a merger between Handsworth F.C. and Parramore F.C. 2014 and the club was placed in the Northern Counties East Football League Premier Division where they currently lie 5th. I believe that they are currently playing their home games in Worksop.

Sunderland RCA FC are pleased to announce the signing of Ex-Sunderland and Hull City professional James Armstrong.

James, the son of Sunderland's Gordon Armstrong, was released by Hull City and signed for Spennymoor Town earlier in the season.

"We are delighted to have signed James from Spennymoor Town" said Manager Martin Swales, "he will give us more options in mid-field".

This signing added to the earlier signing this week of Luke Richardson gives us more strength in depth.

Gary Wood (RCA Captain) underwent surgery yesterday on his right hip to repair his cartilage and re-shape his hip ball bone. Although it is early days yet he is confident that he will be able to do light training by late January but it is likely that he will miss the rest of the season. Everyone at RCA wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to meeting up with him on Saturday if he feels up to it.

Update: 12.15pm Thursday, 27 November 2014

I have just spoken to Gary and his operation did not go to plan.
