Mark Davison plays the ball to Jonathan Carr during the second half of the match.

Third placed North Shields were the visitors to Sunderland LGV Park for this EBAC Northern League fixture.

After the problems caused by Storm Arwen last week it was a testament to the RCA ground staff that the pitch and the spectator areas were in such good order, a great effort by Dave, George and Graham.

RCA made one change to the team that beat Guisborough Town bringing in the experienced Chris Winn for Michael Annang-Colquhoun.

Unfortunately the run of bad luck continues to blight club captain Greg Swansbury who is now isolating awaiting the results of a PCR Covid test.

The teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Marrs, Jakab, Charlton, Hawkins ©, Errington, Hennis, Lawrence, Carr, Davison, Weirs, Winn. Subs: Richardson, Annang-Colquhoun, Allen, Hunter, Ball.

North Shields: Marshall, Cartwright, McDonald, Ormeston, Myers, Walkers, Robinson, Forster ©, Wilson, Cunningham, Hird. Subs: Cassidy, Leonard, Smith, Paterson, Milburn.

RCA welcomed Guisborough Town to Sunderland LGV Park for this EBAC Northern League fixture. RCA would be looking to avenge the 2-0 scoreline from the previous meeting between the two teams this season.

The late withdrawal of Sunderland AFC Work Experience goalkeeper Harrison Bond meant that RCA had to make one change to the team who performed so heroically last week at West Auckland with Keaton Marrs stepping into the No 1 shirt.

There was also a welcome return to the squad for club captain Greg Swansbury after a lengthy spell out with a rib injury.

The teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Marrs, Jakab, Charlton, Hawkins ©, Errington, Hennis, Lawrence, Carr, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Weirs. Subs: Winn, Watts, Swansbury, Richardson, Allen

Guisborough Town: Dean, Redman, Jackson, Dillon, Hood, Risborough, Bartliff, Waites, Preston, Johnson, Rowe. Subs: Marshall, Hope, Wright-Simpson, Spozio, Fairless.

It was all hands on deck at times, as RCA defended superbly throughout the match.

Our first Friday night football for quite some time and we travel to West Auckland’s “Wanted Stadium” for an EBAC Northern League Div. I clash. West Auckland are currently lying second in the league and are unbeaten in their last eight games, so a tough test for the RCA lads.

The return from injury of Bond and Allen were a welcome boost to the squad ahead of the match and the addition of Carr travelling up from York meant that there was almost a full squad to choose from.

The management made three changes to the team who were beaten in mid-week, bringing in Bond, Carr and Lawrence to replace Marrs, Watts and Richardson.

The teams lined up as follows:

West Auckland Town: Guthrie, Hegarty, Cobain, Thompson, Brown, Potter, Horwood, Fryatt, Blinco, Mitchell, Bell. Subs: Lavery, Wright, Dowson, Bennett, Scott.

Sunderland RCA: Bond, Jakab, Charlton, Hawkins ©, B Errington, Hennis, Lawrence, Carr, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Weirs. Subs: Richardson, Watts, J Croft, Allen, Marrs.

Before the match there was a wreath laying ceremony to commemorate Armistice Day, the wreath was laid by Ex-Serviceman Adam Gray and it was followed by Yvonne Wood’s beautiful rendition of the “Last Post” and finally a minutes silence was impeccably observed.

RCA's Michael Annang-Colquhoun tangles with West Allotment's Luke Parkinson during the first half of the match.

Tonight we travelled through the Tyne Tunnel to newly promoted West Allotment Celtic to play at their new East Palmersville Sports Pavilion. After a shaky start to life back in the first division West Allotment seem to have steadied the ship, winning three of their last four fixtures and things are looking a lot brighter. RCA will need to produce the sort of performance seen by the lads in their win over Whitley Bay and the narrow defeat against table topping Consett on Saturday to get anything out of this match.

The Injury curse which has plagued us all season had struck again with Harrison Bond unable to play due to a back injury sustained in the match on Saturday and his place was taken by Marrs.  Leading goal scorer Mark Davison passed a fitness test on his injured ankle and played. Unfortunately Winn and assistant Manager Dan Madden were both isolating following positive lateral flow tests.

The teams lined up as follows:

West Allotment Celtic: Hodgson, Baltazar, Parkinson, Forster, Scott ©, Errington, Thompson, Chapim, Hayton, Larmouth, Martins. Subs: Bryan, Leech, Donaghey, Higgins, Walker.

Sunderland RCA: Marrs, Jakab, Charlton, Hawkins ©, B Errington, Hennis, Weirs, Watts, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Richardson. Subs: J Croft, Lawrence, Herdman.

Sunderland RCA welcomed top of the table Consett to a blustery Sunderland LGV Park and after their convincing 3-0 win against Whitley Bay on Tuesday there was an air of expectation around the ground.

The injury woes continued with the latest being leading goal scorer Mark Davison with an ankle injury sustained in the mid-week match. New signing Kieran Charlton from Workington was brought in and the management team changed the formation to 3-5-2.

The teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Bond, Weirs, Charlton, Jakab, Hawkins ©, Errington, Hennis, J Carr, Annang-Colquhoun, Winn, Watts. Subs: Richardson, J Croft, Lawrence, Hunter, Marrs.

Consett: Coombe, Metz, Martin, Slocombe, Purewal, Allen, Orrell, Smith, Larkin, L Carr, Lawson: Subs: Holden, Scott, Guy, Marriott, Wilkinson.

RCA welcomed Whitley Bay to Sunderland LGV Park for this Ebac Northern League Division 1 fixture. It was a quick return to Ryhope for our visitors who played Ryhope CW on Saturday where they suffered a 3-1 defeat.

Home team manager Steve Riley would undoubtedly be looking for a positive reaction after the 3-2 defeat at Thornaby on Saturday. With that in mind he re-jigged his defence, with Captain Daniel Hawkins playing in a central defensive role to add his experience and leadership to the back four.

Both teams had injury and unavailability problems with the teams lining up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Bond, Jakab, Weirs, Hawkins ©, Errington, Hennis, Watts, Hennis, Winn, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Richardson. Subs: Coghlan, Hunter, J Croft, A Croft, Ball.

Whitley Bay: Lister, McFarlane ©, Dunn, Dick, Taylor, Sherrard, Orrell, Parker, Speed, Dorward, Coulson. Subs: Watson, Iley, Clark, Rutledge, Chanayire.

The Team travelled down the A19 to play Thornaby at the renamed GM Contract Flooring Teesdale Park.

After their mid-week defeat to Redcar Athletic, Sunderland RCA were looking to bounce back against a Thornaby side who managed a draw against Ryhope CW during the week and who have had a very good start to the season.

The management team selected newly signed Work Experience goalkeeper Harrison Bond to make his debut in goal for the Wearsiders with Carr and Hawkins returning to bolster the squad.

The teams lined up as follows:

Thornaby: Mazfari, Moore ©, Flounders, Kenney, Frazer, Guru, Connor, Edwards, Hutchinson, Beddow, Giraud. Subs: Hogan, Davis, Oliver, Pickett, Hunt.

Sunderland RCA: Bond, Weirs, Carr, Jakab, Errington, Hawkins ©, Hennis, Watts, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Winn. Subs: Richardson, Ball, Coghlan, Lawrence, Hunter.

Jonny Ball clears down field during the second half of the match.

A very windy Sunderland LGV Park welcomed our visitors Redcar Athletic FC. This is the first time that the two sides have met and it was to be a memorable one for visitors in more ways than one.

Swansbury, Johnson, Allen and Lennox were still sidelined and Carr (University studies) and Richardson unavailable added to this there was fitness problems surrounding Coghlan and J Croft meant they were a bit thin on the ground. However the inclusion of new signing Chris Winn offered some relief.

The teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Ball, Burlace, Lawrence, Jakab, Allen, Watts, Hennis, Weirs, Davison ©, Annang-Colquhoun, Winn: Subs: Coghlan, Hunter, J Croft, A Croft, Marrs.

Redcar Athletic: Dawson, Jackson, Bell, Woodhouse, McGuckin, Krakue, Williams, Rivis, Wainwright, Smith, Walker. Subs: Martin, Farrington, Eglington, Wilson, Browne.

Matty Weirs scored his first goal for RCA.

The visitors to Sunderland LGV Park today were Billingham Town, who having lost to West Allotment Celtic last time out, would be looking to bounce back from that result and put pressure on an RCA team who lost to high flying Ashington during the week.

With Swansbury, Johnson, Allen and Lennox all out with long term injuries and the unavailability of Carr and A Croft the management team’s selection problems continued.

Billingham Town were forced to make a late change to their line-up when Snaith pulled up injured during the warm up and was replaced by Sutton.

The teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland RCA: Ball, Burlace, Hawkins ©, Jakab, Allen, Coghlan, Hennis, Weirs, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Richardson: Subs: Watts,  Hunter, J Croft, Lawrence, Marrs.

Billingham Town: Norton, Ann, Sutton, Boyle ©, Beeden, Verity, Gooch, Rennison, Close, Harrison, Lavan. Subs: Earl, Bancroft, Heeley, Frazer.

Ashington 4 Sunderland RCA 2

Joshua Croft whips in a dangerous cross during the first half of the match.

Tonight RCA travelled up the A1 to take on high flying Ashington, at the DWMedia Stadium.

Facing an Ashington team who have won five of their last six matches and who on Saturday beat Crook 4-0 a team who defeated us 3-1 a few weeks ago this was never going to be an easy match.

However, after Saturday’s victory at Newton Aycliffe expectations of a repeat performance against a strong Ashington team were high.

RCA made only one change to the team from Saturday with J Croft replacing Carr at left back.

The teams lined up as follows:

Ashington: Dryden, Sampson, Summerly, Anderson, Coppen, Harmison, Doyle, Spooner, McGorrigan, Briggs ©, Robinson. Subs: Aziakonou, Mullen, Ross, Cowburn, McHugh.

Sunderland RCA: Ball, Burlace, J Croft, Jakab, Allen, Coghlan, Hawkins ©, Weirs, Davison, Annang-Colquhoun, Richardson. Subs: Hunter, Watts, Hennis, A Croft, Herdman.
