Thank you, Simon

Simon Mears

The 2017-18 season marked the end of an off-the-field era for Sunderland RCA: super supporter Simon Mears has hung up his camera and put away his reporter's notebook, bringing to an end a period when we have enjoyed extremely well written match reports, praised for their objectivity and analysis by the opposition, and super match action photos. Simon also contributed news items and maintained the fixtures list on the club website. Thanks very much, also, to Simon for his Twitter and Facebook work, carried out with diligence and professionalism. All in all, a tremendous amount of high quality work for the club.

From next season, Simon will be ground hopping, but I'm sure we will see a lot of him when and where RCA are playing.

Saturday, 7 July: first pre-season look out

Alex Ramshaw

New signing Alex Ramshaw, who has joined us from Seaham Red Star, in action on the wing in the first half of the friendly with Northumbria Police.

Dylan Elliott opened the scoring in last Saturday's 8 - 0 win over Northumbria Police at Nissan, converting a cross from Mark Davison on 15 minutes. Clayton Davis was the provider for Sparky to score two minutes later. In the second half, RCA ran riot. Jonathan Davis's goal five minutes after the restart was followed by four from the unstoppable Luke Page with Jak Ashton scoring with the last kick of the game.

Submitted by Tim Robinson on Friday, 22 June 2018

The Northern League has published its 2018-19 fixtures. We kick off the season at home to Newcastle Benfield, which should be a cracker, followed by a visit to the Glebe Sports Ground for an evening match against newly promoted Whickham.

Please click here for a complete list of our league fixtures. Some evening matches may be 7:45 kick offs. I'll look to update the times if they are. So far, all our evening kick off times are 7:30pm.

The Awards

Submitted by Tim Robinson on Tuesday, 12 June 2018

Sunderland RCA's end of season Awards Evening was held on Saturday, 9 June at the Grosvenor Casino - in Sunderland city centre. After such a terrific season it felt that every player deserved an award. And, thanks to tremendous efforts from the management team and Mark Cowan and Carl Morris in particular, it was a bumper night. Thanks everyone who came and thanks to our many sponsors for your support during the year and on the night. It makes the difference. Thanks, too, to Gordon Armstrong - a great RCA supporter - for presenting the awards. The night, though, was principally about the players. Well done to them all.

Mark returns and welcome Alex

Mark Davison and Sunderland RCA manager Martin Swales

Terrific news for RCA fans: we welcome strikers Mark Davison and Alex Ramshaw to Meadow Park.

Mark returns to the club for the third time, having played for Spennymoor, Washington and Morpeth Town. Always popular, always in the goals, it's great to have Mark - and his family - back with the club.

Alex Ramshaw

Also adding to the excitement as we build for the new season is Alex Ramshaw, who has joined us from neighbours Seaham Red Star.

Our Swaz named Manager of the Season

Martin Swales

Our manager, Martin Swales, has been named Non League Manager of the Season by Mark Carruthers in the Sunday Sun.

Congratulations Martin. It’s the icing on the cake of a fantastic season.

Mark Carruthers comments that RCA “have finished above some big-name clubs and it has been down to Swales’ ability to get the most out of his players and their willingness to do everything their manager asks of them.”

Mark also mentioned the outstanding season from Dylan Elliot in the Young Plsyer of the Year category.
