The threatened overnight rainfall did not materialise and so the pitch was passed fit to play.

The RCA management’s selection problems for this match were very different to recent weeks, this week there was a full squad to choose from save for the two long term injuries to Davis and Armstrong, both of whom are progressing well.

Into the starting eleven came Harkess for Talbot (on international duty in Ireland), Noble returned in place of Hope and McNab came in for Lane.

Whitley Bay, who are an improving side, made a number of changes to the team that won at our neighbours RCW in mid-week.

RCA made the trip to Silsden in West Yorkshire for this FA Vase first round tie.

The management team, as expected, made changes to the team who performed so heroically on Tuesday in progressing to the next round of the Durham Challenge cup against Dunston UTS.

In came Harkess, Buchanan, Noble, Proctor, Richardson and ater a late fitness test Gordon was also declared fit and took his place in the starting eleven as RCA looked to extend their unbeaten run to 13.

After the rain of the last few days, the pitch looked in remarkably good condition, although it was sodden in places.

This Durham Challenge Cup tie against Dunston UTS provided the management team with a chance to assess the fitness of a number of first team players returning from long term injuries. Once again they had a squad of 18 to choose from and after a long discussion made seven changes to the team who drew 2 – 2 with Durham City on Saturday. Into the team came Carr, Byrne, Drysdale, Brown, Hope, Scott and Larkin with Armstrong and Powell also added to the bench.

Tonight was also an opportunity for the team to equal the club’s record of 12 games undefeated while in the first division of the Northern League, the 11 already played is a fantastic achievement for such a young team, but shows what can be achieved with team spirit.

RCA welcomed Durham City to Meadow Park for this re-scheduled match. Due to the ongoing problems at New Ferens Park RCA agreed to swap the fixture. More on the Durham situation will emerge in the coming days, but we wish them well in whatever they decide.

The management team were forced to make one change to the team that defeated Washington last week. Luke Richardson was brought in to replace the injured Clayton Davis at right back. After the injury crisis of late it was a pleasant surprise to see 21 players at the ground fully fit and raring to go; some disappointed faces, but still a good team spirit amongst all of them.

RCA welcomed Washington to Meadow Park for this EBAC Northern League clash, the visitors, so far unbeaten in the League, boasted no fewer than eight ex-RCA players in their squad.

With more injury worries surrounding James Armstrong, the management team decided to give new signing Glen Lane his RCA debut. Other than that change the team remained the same as for the mid-week victory against Marske. However the bench looked a lot stronger than of late with the return of Harkess, Drysdale and Scott to add to Carr and Richardson.

RCA entertained Ebac Northern League champions Marske United at Meadow Park in what was expected to be a keenly fought contest, Marske lying fifth in the league with only two defeats in 11 games and RCA on an eight game unbeaten run.

The management team recalled James Talbot into the starting eleven after his exploits in Ireland against the Ukraine, to replace Jordan Harkess who had work commitments. They also brought in Luke Richardson for the injured James Armstrong.

The visitors made one change from the team that lost in mid week to Worksop Town, bringing in Knaggs for Clarkson who was left on the bench.

The management team of RCA gave a late fitness test to Callum Hope, but a niggling groin injury meant he would take no part in the game which was pity after his Man of the Match performance against Norton and Stockton last week. So in came Callen to replace him as the only outfield change to the team. Harkess came in to replace the on-loan Talbot between the sticks. Returning from injury both Hatch and Armstrong were added to the substitute bench.

RCA were looking to continue their rich vein of form which has seen them lose only one game in the last six and that was a penalty shootout against last season’s Vase winners North Shields.

RCA’s selection woes improved slightly today with the signing of Joe Melvin from South Shields and the return of Tony Coe and was further helped when Kevin Gordon past a fitness test before the game.

With most of the management team unavailable, it fell to Gee Errington to select the team and his selection saw McNab switch to left back in place of Richardson, he also gave a debut to Melvin who would partner Gordon up front with Hope switching to the left wing.

Norton and Stockton Ancients included ex-SRCA player Harrison Davies in their team.
