The County Cup tie at home to Newcastle East End has been postponed. The tie was rescheduled for this Saturday, but the first team are at home to Washington in the Northern League. Durham FA will probably ask us to play it on Thursday 26 November. A win against the Tyneside high fliers would see us play in the next round on Saturday, 12 December. Before then, the Under 18s are at home to Herrington Grindon Rangers on Saturday, 28 November, then it's away up the hill against Ryhope CW on Saturday, 5 December.

To avoid the risk of a water-logged pitch, the RCA The Barnes Total Sport Challenge Trophy match against Hetton Town, this Sunday, 6 December, has been switched from Meadow Park to Houghton Kepier Sports College, Dairy Lane Houghton le Spring Tyne and Wear DH4 5BH.

A serious knee injury, sustained in RCA's 1 - 1 draw away at Guisborough on 10 October, turned Davey Anderson's season from playing to supporting.

Dave's being on crutches has not stopped him getting to the gym and having physiotherapy. The good news is that he now has a date for his operation - the end of January. That's followed by a short period of complete rest and then the road back to full fitness begins in earnest.

The players and staff of Sunderland RCA wish Davey all the best for his recovery.

Good news: Davey Anderson’s recovery from his bad leg injury at Guisborough back in October has taken a fast track.

Davey had his operation at the end of last week, all has gone well and he can settle down for Christmas with the family, continuing to support the lads and a target of being back in full training in the build up for the 2010/11 season.

Sunderland RCA The Barnes Sunday League fixture for Sunday, 10 January against Golden Fleece FC is definitely off.

The weather forecast and common sense mean that this Saturday's fixture against Birtley Town in the Northern League is also more than doubtful.

The Christmas Bottle Draw was drawn at the clubhouse, on 28 December 2009.

The frustration continues! Club secretary Colin Wilson wonders when the next match will be played at Meadow Park. And, of course, it's been a white out for all of the Northern League.

It looks as though a thaw, of sorts, might be happening, but with it comes a warning about rushing pitches back into action: if the thaw is only skin deep and the ground below remains frozen then pitches will not drain properly and playing on them will effectively destroy them. We all know how much pitches, Meadow Park included, suffered as a result of last season's rainy spell, so may be it would be wise for officials, players and fans to extend their patience.
