Eleven points from nine games, so OK? Yes, I think so. Not all gone to plan obviously, it never does, but some tough games involved so a steady start is a decent start I reckon. Plenty of time to pick things up, and not chasing our tails this year, And plenty of goals. Sadly so far at both ends, but those who like to see the old onion bag bulging can't complain about our lads. And the usual turn over of players coming in and out as the manager, any manager, decides he was wrong about someone and needs to move them in or out. Plus, more than the usual upset with injuries and various other forced changes. So, yes, all in all, and you won't hear this very often, I think those of us now safely back over the fence are reasonably happy so far.

Disappointing to get beat down at Bishops though, and well beat by all accounts. One of the away games I always like to see us win, something about the atmosphere, canny lads and all that mind, that makes it feel like a very nice little victory. But not this year, and maybe we won't be playing them half a dozen times this season like we normally do. Always next year. Some tasty looking fixtures coming up as well, and with quite a rash here at Meadow Park to keep us static fans happy. Norton in the league and a couple of nice cup ties as well, and more tough trips, to a revitalised Aycliffe and always tough North Shields. Bring it on...

And what of the wider sporting world? Murray gets beat again, of a real tough guy who promptly gets tonked in the next round. Hamilton uses hanky panky and wins, but keeps the race regardless, and AP McCoy comes back in a charity race weighing a stone more than a few weeks ago and wins anyway. And Rooney gets a pen and is now officially the best player of all time. All as per normal then.

Meanwhile over at the SoL the lads had a real good couple of weeks with no bad publicity by the simple method of not having to play at all. Should try it more often...
