Well, a mixed bag so far. A very creditable draw down at West, who good judges tell me look like a real class outfit, a solid win at home, and that doesn't happen as often as we would like, a strong and very respectable but ultimately unsuccessful cup trip to Spennymoor, and a display on the artificial pitch at Durham that evidently got one thinking of Torvill and Dean, or possibly Bambi on ice. Or so I am led to believe. Although amazingly there is a suggestion that it's the first time we have lost on the plastic, is that true? Looks like it. Never mind, with a young and new squad there are bound to be ups and downs. And our favourite little Scotsman seems very chipper, which is a good sign, they must be listening to what he says for once. All in all everything in the garden looks, if not all rosy, then not a bed of weeds. Apart that is from the attempted break in the other night.
What on earth did they think the were going to find worth stealing? Given the time of year, they can hardly have been looking for a warm place to sleep. And if they were, the old tin box is always colder inside than outside anyway. The motivations of the criminal classes defeat me I'm afraid. Apart from the money and not having to go to work and spending the afternoons in the pub.... Hang on a minute I take that back, where's my old crow bar? I jest of course. Never mind, further security precautions are in train, which will feature pits with sharpened bamboo poles and automatic machine guns if the lads have their way, although maybe new roller shutters will have to do for now. All minor inconveniences, the football is the main thing, onwards we go, top six maybe....
