So the rampant hordes from Darlo come to town, and will it be a record gate? No, I don't think so, seems like there is general agreement that the game against the Mags sometime in the 80s saw a good thousand through the doors, although nobody knows an accurate figure, and there is a good deal of romance in certain parties memories of the night in question. I can't remember much about it, or indeed anything about it, what with being a mere child of 10 at the time I will have just been in the pub; yes it was a different world back in those days and no mistake...

Anyway should be a canny afternoon, if it’s on of course, the forecast is turning distinctly wintery. Much preparation being made, burger vans booked I hear, and extra pie being ordered, and even tickets printed, be a pity if the threatened boycott came off, never mind the weather...

Meanwhile back in the twittersphere I note that certain top players in Europe have taken to running competitions for their followers offering match tickets for games as prizes. Which is fair enough, though I doubt if they pay for them. But what puzzles me is why Lee Dong from Shanghai wants to win two tickets for Real Madrid? Or Luis from Manila for that matter? I kid you not, I have seen this with my own eyes, names changed of course, on the twitter feed of certain parties. How much is a weekend in Madrid from Shanghai? Is it worth it? Blimey, we can't get blokes to come out of the Guide Post to watch us, and these lads are prepared to fly round the world. Are Real that much better than RCA? Well I ask you....

And Mr O'Neill has got his man from Turkey, and if he is paying by weight he has got a bargain, he is a big lad and no mistake, but does this mean he can play? No, it doesn't, so the jury will have to remain out on that one.

Of course young Martin is a mere novice when it comes to signing and unsigning players compared to our leader, he goes through them like kleenex in a monastery. None of this one signing at a time and blend them into the team for our man, he likes to buy and sell wholesale, three or four at a time, and no doubt there will be some surprises in the line up for Darlo, it wouldn't be normal otherwise. Enjoy...
