The balls have come back! Tracey is sweetness and light! Amazing what a little bit of netting can do. And credit to the council lads, or at least the boy who turned up to do the job, looks like it should do the trick, at least on the evidence of a couple of games.
But what about Bob the builder down by the entrance? What has he got in mind? Looks like a little bit hut getting built, is this legal? What will the neighbours say? And anyway, can he build it? Does the gateman really need it? Will it not just enable a few more to sneak past on his blind side? Hook nose, hook nose, as they say...
Looked like the inspection went well apart from this mind, much nodding and smiling. Only the annual one though, not the big promotion number, has the fat lad given up on that? Might be wise, given the job we have to get a side down to Marske on a night never mind Manchester, but there you go, it was a sign of progress of sorts. Will we ever be in this position again though? Might this be the one and only opportunity? Or will the FA get their re organisation through and send us all of to Pickering anyway?
Anyway, back on top of the league in March, this is getting ridiculous. What do the likes of West, Spenny and Whitley Bay think they are playing at? It's against all nature this, the millionaires are supposed to have asserted their superiority long before this. This will get football a reputation for unpredictability if we are not careful, is that what we need? Imagine if the same thing happened amongst the big boys. The premier league wouldn't stand for it, Sir Alex would have them writing a new rule straight away, the "no clubs from outside Manchester and London at the top" rule they could call it. Keep things the way they should be, that's the ticket. Still good fun while it is lasting, isn't it? Some tough old games ahead, but you never just quite know, the raggy rovers from Ryhope could do it yet...
