Good season? Not from where I'm watching. I haven't seen the lads win since well before Christmas. Mighty victories on the road are all well and good, but we more static supporters have our needs too you know. To be fair, one way traffic is the only way to describe the Penrith game, bit of larceny there, and I thought it was all going swimmingly when we went two up in a crack against Consett, but no, it wasn't to be. I reckon it is the curse of Tracey. Still, she may be happier after the wonderful work done by the council and their lads on Monday. Never do things the easy way when their is the council way instead. Vast expense for minimal result, that's the style. Much welding and contriving resulting in raising the ball net a couple of feet, that will make all the difference, I'm sure...
The boys in blue have been back in touch again I hear with their view on Tracey's great ball confiscation scheme. Seems it's a civil matter, and not a case for the forces of law and order at all, as she has promised to return all the balls as soon as she is happy. Wonder if you can apply the same logic to other forms of theft in the Ryhope area. "No, officer I have not stolen this car, I am making a protest and will return it to its rightful owners as soon as I am happy". "Oh well, in that case, sir, carry on, and mind how you go". A novel approach, but I can see it being quite popular in some circles.
On another matter entirely, I see Sunderland's other team are doing quite well now the potato headed geordie has been replaced with a leprechaun who to be fair, seems to know a footballer from a wheely bin. An unusual step this for the Roker men, getting someone in who knows what he is doing, I thought they had given up on that when they sacked Reidy. That must account for the reduction in the crowd, the missing nine are swelling the gate over at the Stadium. Can the club stand it? Does this put the great promotion dream on hold? What about the pie sales? Watch this space....
