Sunderland RCA welcomed Newcastle Benfield to Meadow Park in a match where both managers would be looking for positive reactions from their players after some indifferent results in recent weeks. RCA have lost their last three matches and Benfield their last two.

The management team at RCA were forced to make changes with goalkeeper Andrew Hunter suffering a thigh injury which meant the return, sooner than expected, of Jordan Harkess after his lay off due to a broken jaw. Also in the starting eleven were new signings Jonathan Wightman and Shane Jennings who would replace Colin Larkin (work commitments) and Kevin Gordon respectively. Both players were on the bench alongside James Armstrong and James Cook who were returning from injury and Kieran Graham.

The last time Sunderland RCA played Bishop Auckland they suffered a 4 - 1 drubbing, but then we went on a 17 match unbeaten run. Bishops have turned their season round and have convincingly won their last three games scoring 13 and only conceding two.

With the manager away on holiday it was left to Gee, with the assistance of Larks and Smudge, pick a team to try and get back on a winning streak. They decided to bring fit again James Armstrong in at left back, and Larkin returned up front after work commitments on Tuesday had seen him relegated to the bench. I’m not sure if Clayton ever wins a toss, but it looked like he lost another today although the visitors elected to kick up the slope in the first half.

RCA entertained in form North Shields at Meadow Park in this rearranged EBAC Northern League fixture. The visitors had won their last three matches while RCA had recorded a good victory in their last outing against Bishop Auckland.

The RCA management team had a number of players unavailable for tonight’s encounter. Work commitments meant that Harkess and Charlton were unavailable and McNab failed a pre-match fitness test and is still not fully fit. Hunter and Gordon came into the starting eleven to replace the aforementioned and onto the bench came Pounder, Cummings and Cook.

After the mid-week defeat at the hands of North Shields, RCA faced another difficult game against sixth placed Washington.

The management team brought back Charlton, who missed the North Shields encounter through work commitments and with Hatch unavailable his replacement was Nathan Cummings, making his first start for RCA. Harkess took over in goal replacing Hunter who was also unavailable.

The repercussions of Saturday’s exertions were evident tonight with Charlton side-lined with an ankle injury and Armstrong failing a fitness test on a groin injury pick up during the 2 -1 win over Washington. Added to these was the unavailability of Brown and Hatch due to work commitments and the management team had few options but to make changes to a winning team. So Jennings, McNab and Proctor were included in the starting eleven.

The visitors tonight, Dunston UTS, like us, are having an indifferent period in the season with mixed results of late and only two wins in their last six games.

Both managers would be looking to build on their respective weekend performances.

RCA travelled to Consett to play third bottom club Durham City and after their last two victories against Washington and Dunston expectations were high. The management team selected an unchanged side from the one that played so well against Dunston on Tuesday night. They also welcomed back Kevin Gordon after injury and he took his place on the bench.

RCA made the trip down to Norton and Stockton Ancients who are currently bottom of the League with only five wins all season.

Work commitments and injuries once again disrupted the team with McNab, Cummings and Proctor all unavailable for the start of the game. The management team brought in Richardson, Hatch and Gordon.

Goalscorers: SRCA: Davis,  Benfield: Brayson (3), Cornish, Taylor, Convery.

The fall from grace of RCA has been as dramatic as the rise during the FA Vase run.

Today was not only a day to forget but a day that showed all of our weaknesses in one game, outplayed in every department we never looked like winning this game, from the seventh minute when a long ball on the wind caught us out and Cornish slotted home RCA were chasing shadows.

The management team made wholesale changes to the team following their defeat against bottom club Norton and Stockton, in came Armstrong, McNab and Cummings to a re-jigged back four and Glen Lane was also brought in to play wide left.

Sunderland RCA 2 Jarrow Roofing BCA 4

Goalscorers: SRCA:   Cresswell, Lane:  Jarrow Roofing: Chow (3), OG.

Sunderland RCA welcomed Jarrow Roofing to Meadow Park for this EBAC Northern League Division 1 clash between two teams who are struggling for form at the moment. A win by either side would ease the relegation worries of the respective managers.

RCA’s management team were once again forced to make wholesale changes to the squad with injuries, work commitments and suspensions causing havoc to their plans. In came Hunter, Byrne and Cresswell while Buchanan returned from his one match suspension, latest signing Tom Callaghan and Tommy Butler were on the bench if required.

Four defeats in a row have seen RCA dragged perilously close to the relegation dog fight and today’s match against a Bedlington Terriers side, who have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, was going to be another stern test for the lads.

The management team introduced new signings Michael Woud (goalkeeper) and Thomas Butler into the starting line-up for their debut. Noble returned after suspension and Proctor and Jennings were preferred to Cresswell and the injured Davis.
