Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
I thought last Saturday’s FA Cup match was another great game to be involved in.
Playing higher level opposition in Frickley Athletic we knew it was going to be a difficult game. Myself and the coaching staff watched some videos of their recent games, and came up with a plan of how to play and thankfully it worked, as in the end we put in a great performance and could have won by a bigger margin. But the credit must go to the players who all stuck to their task and put on a superb performance for the travelling fans.
Again there were plenty of outstanding performances on the day, but I thought Sparky was exceptional, rolling back the years to put in a vintage performance.
I thought young Taylor was a constant threat with his pace and trickery, and to perform as he did again shows the potential we have with him on our books.
The draw was on Monday, and we received Stockton Town who we know will be a very difficult opponent, but hopefully the home advantage will help and we can get another positive result.
But it’s back to the league for a couple of games and the worst part of having a cup run is that you get left behind with games to play. So we need to be wary of that and try and keep the points ticking over without taking to much notice of league position as it can be a false reading in the early part of the year.
Today we face Whickham, who have a very strong squad and will provide a stiff test, on top of the injury problems we are having at the minute. I hope we have enough in the tank to earn a win, then move on to Monday’s game against Seaham Red Star.
I will ask the lads to dig deep over the weekend and get the points our performances deserve. Thanks for your continued support. Steve
