Last night saw the annual Alan Thompson Memorial Cup match between Ryhope CW and Sunderland RCA, which ended with a 2 - 0 win to the Colliery Welfare.
The two goals came in the 59th and 89th minutes, both from Anthony Ross, following good work on the left wing from Martin Swales. RCA fielded a side consisting mainly of their Under 18s and they put on a good, well organised show, in a competitive match, but it was a fair result.
The match raised £280 for charity.
Ryhope CW captain Phil Hall receives the Alan Thompson Memorial Cup cup from Mrs Maureen Thompson. Phil has played for both Ryhope clubs, along with others last night, including Glenn Moan and Paul Hartley.
