Where do I start? After a bit of an indifferent start to the season, we look like we have finally turned the corner. Some great results over the past seven games and one not so good!

Beating our neighbours Seaham 5-0 away, beating Ashington with 10 men, a ‘blip’ in the FA Cup against Clitheroe - a game we should’ve won - but for me, the turning point was the game against West Auckland. Going to their place midweek, with six or seven players missing and digging in against a top side in the league, was a massive boost for us. Followed by the great win on Saturday against Benfield, showed the character of everyone involved. From a poor first half we came out and got the win, which was fully deserved. Got to say, a lot of credit must go to Gee, who is unbelievable at getting a reaction out of the lads.

It’s been hard for us lately, with players being injured, suspended or unavailable, but you’ve got to give credit to the whole squad. Players have come in, and not just ‘done a job’, they’ve been excellent. It was hard to leave young Sam Lilley out of the starting 11 on Saturday, and something I wasn’t looking forward to telling him, as he’s been fantastic for us lately. Obviously, Sam was disappointed but took it on the chin and took his chance when he came on. Both Sam and Dom (Moan) have been top draw since coming to the club and will be top, top players over the next few years. Good signings, again, credit to Gee for that.

We’ve also had the draw for the FA Vase, Bridlington at home, which will be tough game but a winnable one. First up though, are today’s opponents, Hebburn Town, who sit top of the league. Unfortunately, I’m working in Germany, but I’m sure that the lads will be organised, disciplined, motivated and will come away with all three points. If we want to do anything this season, these are the teams we’ve got to beat, so let’s keep the run going and take each game as it comes. I’ve said it before, on our day, we will beat anyone.

Over to you, Gee.
