Goalscorers: SRCA: Callen (2), Horsley (2), Larkin, Hughes. Horden: Pattison, Lonsdale.
The opening 25 minutes of this match was a fairly even affair with both teams creating chances and both keepers making good saves, the deadlock was broken in the 27 minute when Callen rose at the far post to send a looping header over the Horden Keeper and into the net.
Horden responded positively, attacking RCA in numbers but the visitors held firm and in the 44th minute a long ball out of defence was well controlled by Coe who teed up Larkin who smashed the ball low into the net from 20 yrds out.
The second half saw a lot of changes to both teams and RCA extended their lead when Davis sent an exquisite ball into the path of Hughes who finished well.
Horden did not give up though and came back into it when former RCA player Patterson made it 3-1 with a well taken goal and 5 minutes later a freekick was headed across the RCA penalty area and Lonsdale was on hand to stab home.
RCA restored their 2 goal cushion three minutes later when a simple back pass was missed by the Horden keeper under pressure by Horsley and the tall striker had the easiest of chances to slot home to make it 4 - 2.
An injury to Noble saw the reintroduction of Callen into the game and he made an immediate impact, collecting the ball on the left he cut inside two defenders before unleashing a terrific shot which took a deflection on its way into the net.
RCA completed the scoring in the 85 minute when a cross into the box found Horsley who stered the ball home from close range.
This was another game in which RCA displayed their attacking flair.
Next up is Hebburn Town on Friday night in the Tyne and Wear Summer Cup.
