Sunderland Sunday League: Premier Division
RCA Grangetown Florists did their goals difference a power of good when beating Grangetown WMC by an emphatic scoreline of 10-1.
RCA started kicking up the slope and took a third minute lead through Jason Gargett when he headed home from a Gary Hill cross. Further goals arrived from Martin Metcalfe and Gary Hills by the 30th minute, only for Grangetown WMC to pull one back with a Ben Stokoe penalty. However RCA Florists restored a three goal advantage with another Gargett goal on 44 minutes to give a ht score of 4-1.
The second half saw RCA Florists run riot, and but for some stout defending from the outstanding Graham Thornton and some clumsy finishing from RCA Florists, the scoreline could have been even worse. But nevertheless a further six goals duly arrived with another brace from Gargett bringing his total to four, two from sub Mick Wharton, and one each for George McCain and Scott Kelly.
Well done though to WMC who kept going right up to the final whistle.
Back to business on Thursday night with another midweeker, this time against relegation threatened Ashbrooke FC.
