Dave is now virtually fully recovered from his cruciate ligament injury and operation and is pushing to regain his central defensive position.
Carl Beasley
A versatile and very experienced Northern League defender, Carl has joined us from his home town club, Spennymoor, where he was club captain. A spell at Tow Law followed his first seasons at Spennymoor.
John Butler
JB has signed from Shildon and is not known as "The Machine" for nothing. He runs forever and can play in a variety of positions. Equally at home at full back, midfield or on the wing he is a great asset to the squad.
Leon Carling
Signed from Norton and Stockton, Leon has a decent pedigree in the Northern league and is a strong centre half who reads the game well.
Michael Dalton
A recent signing from Marske United, Michael scored on his Debut against South Shields. Michael is a strong, powerful midfielder who likes to tackle but can also pass the ball to great effect.
Harrison Davies
Re-signed after a spell at Guisborough Town. Another good winger who can deliver telling crosses and is a good passer of the ball. When his confidence is high he is a great player to watch.
Liam Dunn
A versatile defender/midfielder who has progressed from Sunderland RCA Under 18 side,'Dunny' has played for the Durham County Youth
side and has a real future ahead of him.
Marc Ellison
Released from Hartlepool United in December 2009, Marc then played for Swedish Club Ope IF. He is a fast, powerful, combative and skillful midfield player.
Joe Fairish
Signed from Northallerton Town, having previously played for Bishop Auckland, Joe loves to tackle (sometimes not very well) he can also pass a ball and has great vision. Might have to wait to see the best of Joe as he has ruptured ankle ligaments.
Keith Graydon
Re- signed from Bedlington Terriers. Keith is a box-to-box midfielder who possesses a wonderful array of passes. Great vision and excellence in dead ball situations are hallmarks of his play.
Wayne Henderson
Wayne moved effortlessly into his 11th season with the club and has proved over the years that he is quality player. He can play in any defensive position and is a good centre forward capable of scoring goals.
Gary Hoggeth
Gary's back! RCA Player of the Year and Players' Player in 2009-10 and previously with Jarrow Roofing, Gary is highly rated in Northern League circles, a top class keeper who plays with a smile on his face. A good shot stopper and excellent distribution, he has the ability to turn defence into attack.
Matty Hyson
Much travelled ex pro who can play as a centre half or up front. Matty is a solid performer who always gives 100% and wins balls in the air for fun.
Steve Jones
Steve made the right back spot his own last season and was one of the first names to re-sign for this season. Excellent defender who relishes the challenges of the first division.
Ritchie Logan
A centre forward who has played for Darlington FC, Ritichie is a strong, mobile attacker with a good goal-scoring record.
Adam McGuinness
Adam has re-signed to provide cover for the squad on the left hand side.
Mark McLeod
Mark is a quality young midfielder who was with Darlington. He is a great passer of the ball. Last season he made valuable contributions to the promotion campaign, establishing himself in the first team squad.
Marc Moon
Podge is another player getting a taste of Northern League football having developed from our Youth set up. Versatile at the
back and midfield, he has also played for Durham County U18s.
James Oates
One of the best defenders in the first division when he played for South Shields last season. He has the ability to read the game and makes it look so easy. Always looks comfortable on the ball.
Luke Olabode
A player who is comfortable at the back or up front, Luke spent a couple of years with Darlington FC Academy. A former member of
Sunderland RCA youth side, he has represented both the DFA County U18s and DFA County School sides.
Lee Owens
Lee has returned to his home town and to RCA, where in the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons he made a total of 39 appearances, scoring 13 goals. Able to play on the right or left, Lee combines the three key attributes of a winger: pace, skill and awareness.
Scott Richards
Scott is a very experienced central midfielder who combines skill, drive and determination with a desire to win. He is strong and courageous in the tackle and can pass the ball effectively.
Gary Shields
Gary's back after a short return to Chester-le-Street at the beginnjing of the season A Sunderland East End lad who has a wealth of Northern League experience, he scores his fair share of goals and is a great, committed team player. A bit of a joker off the field has been known to upset a few opponents with his banter.
Martin Smith
Martin's back to his home town and playing in red and white. The vision, awareness, technical ability and eye for goal that were his hallmarks are still there. For RCA fans and any neutral it's great to see him on field.
Paul Taylor
Re-signed from Easington CW, Paul possesses exhilarating pace which frightens defenders. He also has a phenomenal goal scoring record at all levels.
John Toft
John is back playing after a serious knee injury which kept him sidelined for 12 months. It is great to see him back. Maybe not see the best of him till next season.
Matty Tymon
Matty is a strong centre forward who has recently signed from West Auckland.
Joe Walton
Signed from neighbours Ryhope Colliery Welfare, Joe is a 19 year old with good pace. He is a right-sided midfielder with technical ability and great potential.
Management Team:
Neil Hixon (Manager)
Neil has been around the Northern League for more years than he cares to remember and has brought all of that experience to Sunderland RCA. The last three seasons have seen a distinct improvement in the fortunes of the club, culminating in promotion and Neil has been central to that transformation. He sets high standards and is ably assisted by his backroom staff.
Glen McCartney (Assistant Manager)
Glen was appointed Assistant Manager in the 2008/09 season. He is known for his dependability, passing and quick thinking. He won't admit this, but his playing days are getting fewer, but his motivational skills and dedication are unquestionable, we are lucky to have him on the backroom staff.
George Herd (Head Coach)
Nothing can be written about George that has not already been said. As a coach he is second to none at this level, possibly at any level. He has the respect of everyone at the club and his enthusiasm is infectious. He is at an age when most people would be looking to put their feet up, but not George. He continues to coach at a high tempo and will not accept second best from anyone. A legend in his playing days at Sunderland, he is now a Super Legend as a coach at Sunderland RCA FC.
Ian Smith (Coach)
Sunderland born Ian has joined us from Redby CA, where he was head coach. He's looking to advance his coaching career with RCA as he studies for his UEFA B coaching qualification.
