Jonny has spent the last 4 years in America playing for Hartwick College in New York and Lake Erie College in Ohio, where he captained the side in the league winning season last year. Being voted regional player of the year and then ultimately winning All American Player of the Year was a great accolade for Jonny.

Jonny told us “I graduated in May and came home for good, so looking to get back playing over here. I choose to join RCA purely based off how much I enjoyed my time there before and obviously I know some of the lads from that time and even some of the new ones, so I always knew I wanted to come back once I came home and back to Sunderland.”

Assistant Gary Errington had been keeping tabs on Jonny’s progress over the past few years and said “Once I knew Jonny was back home I was straight on the phone to see if he would be interested in joining us. He’s a great young player and had great success out in America and obviously delighted he’s back at RCA. He fits in well with what we are trying to build and he’s a kid with a big future.” Welcome back Jonny.

The former Washington, South Shields and Blyth player is great addition and one manager Martin Swales is delighted with “we are delighted that Calla has decided to join us and a player we’ve been keeping tabs on for a long time. The lads got a great pedigree, which is why he was at Shields and Blyth last season. He’s got great composure, pace and is a top player who’ll be a great addition for us.

Anth told us “I already know a lot of the lads at the club and I also know Swaz, Mark and Gee well. They’ve always been a competitive team and been in and around the top of the table in recent seasons and had some decent Vase runs so hopefully I can help them kick on and I can’t wait to get started.” Welcome back Anth.

Callum’s previous clubs include West Auckland, Whitley Bay and Bedlington and is a player manager Martin Swales knows all about “Callum’s a great lad and we’re really pleased to have him back. He’s worked really hard over the past few months and is probably the fittest he’s ever been so will be another great addition to the squad and is comfortable playing in numerous positions. He’s a top player as well and has impressed everyone with his ability, fitness and attitude.”

Callum explained “I sort of fell out of love with football but I’m hungrier than ever to get back to playing and enjoying it again. I’ve worked really hard on the fitness side and being a local lad, I’m really looking forward to playing again for RCA.” Welcome back Callum.
