Sunderland RCA have been drawn away to South Shields in the Second Round of the Durham County Challenge Cup.

The match is scheduled to be played the week preceding 6 January.

It should be a cracking match if the two Northern League encounters between the sides last season are anything to go by - the first match, at Mariners Park, finished in a 2-2 draw after RCA surrended a 2-0 lead as ten-man Shields came storming back in the last 20 minutes of the match, with a brilliant Julio Arca strike levelling the match in the final minutes.

At Meadow Park, Shields won 2-1: after RCA went in with a half-time lead, courtesy of a Ross Preston goal, Shields again fought back and a terrific free-kick from Arca and a typical poacher's goal from Gavin Cogdon sealed the points, despite RCA throwing the kitchen sink at Shields for the last quarter of the match, and they went on to complete an historic quadruple, winning the FA Vase, the Northern League Championship, the Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup and the Durham County Challenge Cup.
