Blimey, all settled with four games to go, who would have guessed? Not me, that’s for sure. I have spent the winter anticipating a last game nail biter. Eight and a half months, or 229 days as some say, in the relegation spots, and then all over and done with a few games later. Feel a bit short changed now to be honest! Only joking of course, I'm really looking forward to watching our lads playing these last four home games wearing flip flops and smoking lah di dahs. Although no doubt our lords and masters on the league management committee would have something to say about that. Be fun watching them trying to find a relevant rule mind...

Some good games amongst these last four as well. Vase finalists and league championship contenders coming to Meadow Park, and hopefully bringing lots of their good supporting chaps with them, which will keep the Deft busy, if not necessarily happy. Bit of a chance for us to put a marker down for next season if nothing else. And next season looks exciting if we can keep this lot together, plenty of young lads, good characters if somewhat daft, good strength and most importantly, pace, and plenty of it. The key to the modern game at all levels in my humble view, quick is good, quicker is better. Except in darts...

So, who do we think will win the League then? After due consideration of the games to come, and giving due weight to our role in matters, which could well be decisive in my humble opinion, I rather fancy Marske to win their first ever Northern League title. I think they will win their last two games and I don't think anybody else will be able to catch them. Be disappointing for Shildon, Guisborough and North Shields, of course, and they might be asking what we were playing at the other week, but there you go. The ghostly gadgie puts his money on the seaside smoggies. Kiss of death...
