According to the league chairman our game at Jarrow Roofing the other week was poor, poor and poor. Harsh I'm led to believe. Usual mistakes cost us dear, but we played with some spirit and might have got something from the game but for the Jarrow keeper who was excellent, or at least that was the way I heard it. And mostly a fairly contested event, and a small but engaged and vocal crowd. And anyway not the kind of promotional chit chat from the bigwigs which is likely to bring more in, if you ask me. Only saying. But what would I know?

More importantly all of a sudden here we are defending a 100% record no less when Crook come to town this weekend. I refer of course to the new management getting off to a flyer over in Cumbria the other night. Quite a turn round I hear from first half to second. Wise words of chastisement and encouragement over the half time orange juice had the desired result, with good performances and good goals all over the pitch. They look an unlikely pair to be fair, Little and Large or Eric and Ernie to look at, and the big one even has what appears to be some kind of new fangled pipe, though not the glasses. Wonder if he can do the trick with the brown paper bag? Never could master it myself. But they can bring me sunshine if they like, and play all the right notes in any order they fancy...

Anyway, this is a big week to follow, and a chance to see if it is an ongoing transformation. All could look sunshine and light by next Saturday night, with two good wins, or all could be doom and gloom, which will it be? Probably somewhere in the middle, but we can hope and pray. Not that I'm religious you understand, just superstitious, or maybe just stupid...
