Saturday 21/11/15 Hemsworth MW v Sunderland RCA. One of the newer grounds in the NCEL, I was there two years ago, it's a bit like Silsden's ground, although the club house is at the side of the pitch. Just yon side of Pontefract, about two hours drive.

Interesting remembrance from my visit to Hemsworth is that the fence behind one of the goals is quite low and the elderly "ball-boy" remained outside and watched the action by standing on a chair placed on a length of rubber sheeting to keep it from sinking into the grass.

If the lads want to stop off somewhere for a couple of hours on the way back, I suggest Xscape at Castleford; plenty of coach parking, boozers (including Wetherspoons - The Winter Seam) and fast-food restaurants (Frankie & Benny's, Nando's, whatever that is). Also I can pop along to my daughter's, a couple of miles away, for tea smiley

Is there any further news regarding the transport arrangements for the Hemsworth game? Needing to arrange a wife-sitter and more interested in the expected arrival time in Ryhope wink

El queso....a few of the lads know directions from yer daughters. R u still available for baby sitting !

The league chairman has announced that he will be at Hemsworth, also. Quote: "November 21 is Vase day – Sunderland RCA, away to Hemsworth, will be happy to learn that it’s their turn to pick up the poisoned chalice". Better tell the lads to watch their P's and Q's wink

Last time I was there, Mike was also in attendance, in the company of Peter Sixsmith, who (allegedly) scoffed two lots of fish and chips from the chippy across the road from the ground. Also, that day, the visitors, in the form of Knaresborough Town, ran out 4-0 winners. Hope that's a better omen than the chairman's threatened presence laugh

Well I'll be ganning Yarm....about 6am Sunday....all being well. Heard Hemsworth is our twin ...in the Counties comparison. Looking forward to swapping ...our Happy Hour Vouchers ! Only difference pie and mushy peas....we are pie and beans. Exchange at kick off.

Rob has written elsewhere: "I know I keep banging on about team spirit but it is there for everyone to see", I have to say that the atmosphere among the lads yesterday was great to experience. I know it's easy to be happy after a 5-1 victory, but there were other factors, one which struck me was the involvement and participation of those players, who made the journey, in full knowledge that they would/could not take part in the actual game. Long may it prevail.
